What powers the Honda CR-V?
The engine option you get with the Honda CR-V will depend on its year. Until 2020, the CR-V was powered by a 2.4-liter four-cylinder that doled out an astounding 184 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque. Paring with this engine is a continuously variable automatic transmission and front-wheel-drive. From 2020 and on, the CR-V upgraded its engine to a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder that delivers a solid 190 horsepower and 179 lb-ft of torque. This engine also pairs with the smooth sailing continuously variable automatic transmission, and while front-wheel-drive is standard, the CR-V does have the option of all-wheel-drive for some added traction. The 2020 model year also introduced a hybrid option to its mix.
What features are available for the CR-V?
One of the best things about the CR-V over the years is the number of features, even at the base trim level. The base trim is the LX, and it comes with a 5-inch central display, automatic climate control, a four-speaker sound system, and the Honda Sensing suite of advanced driver safety aids, which we will talk about later. The next available trim is the EX which adds a lot more extra goodies such as a sunroof, push-button start with keyless entry, heated front seats, a power-adjustable driver's seat, a 7-inch touchscreen, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. We highly recommend the EX-L trim, which has leather upholstery, an eight-speaker audio system, and a power liftgate if you want more luxury features. The top-level Touring rounds things out nicely with spectacular items such as LED headlights, integrated navigation, a premium nine-speaker audio system, and a heated steering wheel.
What driver aids can I get the with Honda CR-V?
Honda vehicles have always been known for their safety features thanks to the Honda SafetySense package, and the CR-V is no exception. On all trim levels, you can get advanced systems such as a Forward Collision Warning system that will alert you to a possible head-on collision and even apply the brakes if you fail to do so. Then there is the Lane Departure Warning system will alert you if the CR-V begins to drift outside of the painted lines. Next, we have the Adaptive Cruise Control system, which will allow the CR-V to maintain a pre-selected distance away from the traffic in front of it. Additional standard safety features include automatic high beams and Lane Keeping Assist.
